Lugesin ka selle artikli ja Q&A sektsiooni läbi ning peab ütlema, et kõik, mida ma selle mängu kohta viimasel ajal lugenud olen, kinnitab minu usku, et mäng tuleb väga hea. Muidugi on seetõttu ka lootused suhteliselt kõrgele kruvitud, nii et loodan, et ei pea pettuma. Hea on see, et PVP-d ei suruta vägisi peale, vaid tulevad ka PVE serverid. Very Happy

Igatahes mõjuvad nii arvustajate kui ka mängu tegijate jutt suhteliselt tugeva kontrastina Star Trek Online'ile, mille osas jäi tihti mulje, et tegijad tegelikult ei hooli mängust ja tahavad vaid raha saada. SWTOR-ist peaks aga tulema südamega tehtud mäng. Cool

mina isiklikult suhtungi sellesse mängu hetkel rohkem kui kotor 3-e. esialgu vähemalt igasugu pvp jne aspektid mind seal ei huvitaks. peaasi et stoori oleks kotoriga võrreldav ja minu pärast olgu graafilise poole pealt seal kavõi kriipsujukud. Wink

MMORPG.com lehel avaldatud artiklis kirjutab toimetaja Jon Wood, et mängule kulutatud suur raha saab kas teistele kompaniidele hoiatuseks juhul, kui mäng peaks läbi kukkuma või saab sellest hoopiski särav näide sellest, mida suure rahaga on võimalik saavutada.

Vau, see on küll üks Star Warsi raamat, mis on KOTORi fännide jaoks põhimõtteliselt kohustuslik lugemine. Smile Natuke kahju, et see seiklus kunagi ühtegi mängu ei jõudnud, aga kuna autoriks on Drew Karpyshyn (KOTOR & ME pluss mõlema frantsiisi romaanid) siis elevust tekitab see ikkagi.

MMORPG.com avaldas intervjuu käesoleva mängu teemal, mis keskendub põhiliselt nn flashpointide olemuse selgitamisele, mis on põhimõtteliselt teistest MMO-dest tuntud dungeonite analoogid, kuid seejuures siiski täiesti teistsugused.

For those not following the game closely can you give us an overview of what Flashpoints are exactly? How do they differ from your typical MMO dungeon romp?


Daniel Erickson:

Sure, so a Flashpoint is our chance to do huge scripted amazing storytelling, and bring it in balanced for a four player party. It allows you guys to go in and have your own adventure separated out from everyone else. Because it is in a separate instance we can do some of the huge things that are hard to do in a public space. We can have ships explode, we can have you running through places that are being destroyed. We’ve got places, you got to see Taral V when we brought it to PAX, and there were ships running into towers that were falling over and exploding, and if you ran through you caught on fire.

It’s a chance to do big big exciting stuff; and as you guys got to see, you guys got to play through a Flashpoint, they don’t play at all like a typical MMO dungeon. They are story focused, they are big, they are cinematic. You come out feeling like you’ve really accomplished something. And they’re, when talk about, “Oh. We haven’t seen some of the endgame stuff; we haven’t seen some of the other features.” What I always tell them is, “Look at our Flashpoints, and understand that is what RPG MMO means to us.” Right, we take that sort of approach for each feature. For basic questing, what did we do? We took the basic questing and we said we needed to give you context, we needed to give you story, we needed to make it exciting. Flashpoints, same thing; we’re going to give you choices, we’re going to give you scenes, we’re going to make this much more exciting, much more like you’re doing a cinematic piece. Same thing for everything we try to do in the game.

Esiteks mmorpg.com intervjuu PVP-st, kus muuhulgas tuuakse välja huvitav seik, et võrreldes tavapäraste mängudega on SW:TOR-is PVP-s oma koht ka nn tankidel, kes sarnaselt PVE-le vähendavad oma rühma poolt sisse saadavat damage'it. Lisaks on võimalik tegelast leveldada ka ainult PVP-d tehes.

Tanks have traditionally had a tough time finding a place in PvP. How will tanks contribute to the overall dynamic of a fight? What options do they have to protect their allies?

Emmanuel Lusinchi:

Sure, so one of the things we really want to do is every kind of player has a role to play in PvP, but also every, people make a big choice when they pick their Advanced Class, and one of the things is some Advanced Classes have a support role to play, like a tank, like a healer, and we want every one of these roles to be valid in PvP. That's what you pick for yourself, that's what you enjoy doing, we'd like you to be able to do that in a PvP situation. We didn't want to denature it in the sense that in some other games sometimes your tanks are valid, but they become completely different, they become a huge damage dealer, for example. We didn't want that, because that's not what you picked for yourself, so it's hard to balance.

So the way we've done it is, several ways, we've tried to replicate the effect of the typical taunt ability which redirects enemies towards yourself in PvP. So, taunting actually reduces the damage dealt by the enemy you just targeted, and it reduces the damage that person is doing on anyone, but not on you. So that person can continue trying to do reduced damage on its target or it can turn towards you because he's going to maximize his DPS, so it's kind of, any way you win, as a tank, you've reduced the damage that is going towards your friends, and in some cases you redirect the enemy's attention towards yourself, so it kind of the same wy it works in the PvE.

The other way we further gave options to the tank class, the tank roles, was a PvP only ability we call Guarding, Guard. When you use that on one of your friends, until you cancel it, half of the damage that your friend is actually taking is redirected towards you. So you take a lot of damage, but you're protecting your friend. It's a really powerful ability; we've seen it today, where it really contributed to some healers being extremely hard to kill because a tank was staying next to them and really protecting them. We think it's an interesting ability, and it lets tanks be tanks. Not only that, but both mechanics are easy for us to track every single point of damage that has been redirected by a good tank by himself toward himself, and so we can reward you badges, which is something we mentioned. We can just give you better rewards because you're playing the role you picked for yourself and you're playing it well.

Teiseks on viimastel andmetel mängu arenduse eelarveks seni 80 miljonit dollarit. Samas piisavat raha tagasi teenimiseks ka poolest miljonist mängijast. Lisaks on mängu väljatulek lükatud 2012. aasta algusesse.

EA also announced this week that the launch of "Star Wars: The Old Republic" may be delayed until January 2012.

The Imperial Agent really plays a sort of combination of CIA/KGB role. Spends a lot of time undercover, spends a lot of time trying to hunt down internal enemies and external enemies. Really is the jack-of-all-trades, goes where the job brings him. The Imperial Agent is probably the person who learns the most truth throughout the game story about what’s actually happening in the galaxy, what the Sith are actually trying to do, what the conflicts are about, etc. And ends up very often having to choose between the will of the government and what he thinks might be the best thing for The Empire or its people.

Okei, see on küll äärmiselt ebameeldiv uudis. Sad Ma loodan, et see tähendab siiski vaid seda, et mängu ei ole võimalik Eestist kohapealt osta, sest sel juhul jääb alati võimalus see välismaalt tellida. Hoopis hullem on lugu, kui hakatakse blokeerima Eestis välja antud krediitkaarte või Eesti IP-aadresse.
