George Lucas kaotas Star Warsi autoriõigustelahingu

Disainer, kes valmistas ulmefilmi Star Wars tarbeks stormtrooperi nime all tuntud sõdalastele kiivri, võitis kohtus filmi loojat George Lucast.
62-aastane Lõuna-Londonis elav George Ainsworth suutis kohut veenda, et kiivri näol pole tegemist mitte nö kunstitööga vaid praktilise esemega, mis ei lähe seega autoriõiguste alla, millega muu Star Warsiga seondub kaitstud on ning Lucasele kuulub, kirjutab BBC.
Kohtuotsusega võib mees nüüd kiivrikoopiaid vabal volil meenetena müüa, kartmata sanktsioone Lucase firmalt Lucasfilm. Viimane kaebas mehe 2004. aastal kohtusse nõudes talt 20 miljonit dollarit.

Ei tasu liiga ahne ka olla.  Samas huvitav, et otsuse tegemine nii kaua võttis.

New scientific research shows that a real-life lightsaber may not an impossibility after all. Scientists at MIT and Harvard have reportedly found a way to bind together particles of light in a way that resembles lightsabers features in the Star Wars universe.
“Most of the properties of light we know about originate from the fact that photons are massless and do not interact,” Harvard physicist Mikhail Lukin said.”What we have done is create a special type of medium in which photons interact with each other so strongly that they act as though they have mass and bind together to form molecules.”
Lukin said in a statement that the light saber comparison is appropriate because the photons — particles of electromagnetic radiation — push against and deflect each other.
“The physics of what’s happening in these molecules is similar to what we see in the movies,” he adds. |

Among the lineup were several Star Wars items, including a few that we've already heard about, including Episode VII and Star Wars Rebels, but also several new projects that are now reportedly in the pipeline:
Classic LEGO Star Wars games coming to the mobile platform in spring/summer 2014.
A Star Wars Digital Library, set to launch in fall/winter 2014.
Confirmation that Star Wars: Episode VII is on track for a spring/summer 2015 release...
and drumroll, please...
"Darth Vader-themed TV Specials" that will debut in spring/summer 2014.
