For those who signed up for the mailing, a bit of an inside update on where things stand on Babylon 5: The Lost Tales (whose production was hailed just this week in the new TV Guide under the "Cheers and Jeers" column) (and yes, we got the "cheer" part of that, wiseass)...
I'll be flying back up to Vancouver toward the end of the month to supervise the dialogue looping and to start reviewing the finished CGI shots being created by Atmosphere.
We've also designed a brand new title sequence for Babylon 5, which incorporates all of the major characters, and emphasizes the interconnectedness of the characters seen over the show. There will also be a separate set-piece placed just before the main title sequence that will tie back visually to our series finale, "Sleeping in Light," in kind of a tribute to the end of that volume and the starting of this one.
We're also finishing up the director's blogs and behind- the-scenes pieces, which will show Bruce, Tracy, Peter and our new cast members, with the former group commenting on both the future of B5 and their own memories and reflections on Babylon 5. There will also be meditations and tributes to the passing of Richard Biggs and Andreas Katsulas from their fellow cast members.
The director's blogs will follow production from script through prep and shooting...though in some cases with a bit of an unusual approach. (I can never do anything serious with a straight face.) You see, there was something innovative and new and unusual and artsy that I wanted to do with this movie, but did the studio get the majesty, the novelty, the innovativeness of that idea? No, no, of COURSE not. But by gosh you'll get a preview of it here...and the world of SF will never be the same again.... |

Joe is one of the finest television writers I’ve ever worked with and he gave me material I haven’t seen the likes of since the show, really juicy stuff to delve into — aspects of Sheridan we had not played before.”
Sheridan will be more of an elder statesmen, Boxleitner said. “He’s a man who’s more likely to weigh things instead of being so action-oriented. We used to joke he was John ‘Nuke Em’ Sheridan. He’s much wiser now and more seasoned.” |

Jeffrey: So, with respect to the things that he told me that I can't tell you guys because that would be inappropriate, let me at least summarize by saying that Bruce had an outstanding time. It was just truly a great production experience for him. He loved the idea that he was back in this universe. Loved the opportunity to work with Tracy Scoggins, who he says just looks absolutely sensational. And loved the opportunity to work with Peter Woodward again, who is just such an amazing talent. Could not stop saying enough great things about Joe's script, and how terrific Joe was about everything about the production. How exciting; what a positive energy there was about everything that was going on. I mean, it was a half hour of me just listening to him just go on, and on, and on, and on, and on before I got a word in edge wise. I mean, he is just so jazzed about it. And, I can tell you after having known Bruce for as many years as I have, to hear him that excited about something is really good. Because, if he is milktoast about something, he'll let you know. And if he's unhappy, he'll let you know. And, it was just a great experience; he said that he has never seen a show quite so... I guess the right word be kinda relaxed, and comfortable, and enjoying the whole experience.
There must have been a whole level of... He was very clear about how the Joe we worked with on Babylon 5 was not the Joe he had just got to work with. In terms of just his overall confidence, and just the way he... that Joe was just having a great time with it. They were all having a great time with it. And Bruce couldn't stop saying enough wonderful things about Doug Netter, and how, what an amazing man Doug still is at his... still young years. That Doug just hung right in there with them, and was having dinner with them late at night, and slamming down cappuccinos at midnight after a long day of shooting. And getting there, and boom, he was on set the next morning ready to rock. And still, just, right there, shoulder to shoulder with everybody else. It speaks volumes about Doug Netter.
So, that's the buzz from Canada. It has been going great, a super crew. He also, I will tell you that Bruce said the crew was sooo enthusiastic. That they were so excited that they were getting to do anything that was B5, and be a part of it. That that was just a super, super positive experience, and everything went terrific. |

Logo on ilus.  Ja kui too pilt on tõesti filmist endast, siis tuleb küll rõõmustada - jaama enda ja laevade disaini pole märgatavalt muudetud, kuigi mind ennast natuke häirivad need "mahakeeratud" värvid. Minu arvates tegid Babylon 5'e omas osas eriliseks ja meeldivaks vaadata just värvikirevad eriefektid. Aga mulle tundub ka, et antud pilt on ülevalgustatud, mis võib tähendada, et ekraanil näeb asi siiski parem välja.

Nõustun, tõepoolest on väga sarnane.
Igatahes rõõm kuulda, et DVD juba nii vara välja tuleb, selle asja kavatsen küll juba varem ette tellida, kui see võimalikuks peaks osutuma.

Millegipärast tekkis siin võrdlus esimese Star Treki filmi väljatulekuga, kus oli hirmus palju väga häid eriefekte, sest tegijad tahtsid näidata, et nüüd on neil kõvasti pappi.

| Kuigi vaatan veel endiselt B5 esimest hooaega, ootan isegi 'The Lost Tales'i. Eriefektid võivad ikka nüüd väga head olla, lugesin et arvutigraafikaga tegelevad samad inimesed, kes ka BSG-d teevad. |

Ja trailer on üleval! (babylon5.com lehel valida TLT link ja siis trailer)
Paistab suurepärane. Minu DVD kollektsioon suureneb varsti selle DVD võrra, teen oma panuse et selliseid filme veel tuleks. Enam pole kaua oodata jäänud, ainult 2 kuud veel.

Trailer oli küll väga hea, võibolla on asi selles ka, et pole B5 kaua enam näinud... Aga arvan ikkagi, et film tuleb super.
